Rohwer | Ted T. Tanouye

Many Japanese American men enlisted, hoping that by serving in the military, they could get better treatment for their families. Tanouye’s family was incarcerated in Rohwer. He was killed in Italy in 1944, while serving in the 442d Regimental Combat Team. He received the Medal of Honor for “extraordinary heroism.”
